Year 4 teams                Each team is responsible for providing & paying their own umpires                         
Year 5 - 9 teams

All umpires are rostered & paid by BNA as per the table below.

Umpire Incentive Payment applies:

  • Teams have the option to nominate umpires for the panel which saves them the Umpire Incentive Payment
  • $250 payment applies to teams not nominating an umpire for the panel
Year 10 + teams 

Each team is responsible for providing and paying an umpire for HALF the number of games during the season = 8.

Payment rate to be negotiated between the umpire and club.

BNA provides and pays all other umpires.

BNA Panel Umpires:

  • Payment rates for Badged umpires and Umpire Trainers increased in 2023 
    • Badged umpires are now paid $24 per hour for a 45 minute game
  • Some clubs choose to "top up" our payments to panel umpires, but that is their perogative and not encouraged or enforced.

Panel Umpires: Payments will only be made to those who:

  1. Registered & completed all relevant courses
  2. Completed an Umpire registration form
  3. Signed a "Declaration of Hobby" form, unless they want tax to be withheld.
  4. Submit current and accurate bank details
  5. Maintained uniform standards

Yr 4 and Senior (Yr10 & Above) Team Umpires: Payments to be arranged with your team/club.

Payments are made at the end of each term 2, 3 and 4.

Some clubs choose to supplement payments from the Association, depending on umpire commitment to their club.

This involves a significant commitment to badge training on the Saturday senior afternoon matches, where a qualified trainer monitors, encourages and trains umpires until they are deemed ready for testing.

If you think that you are confident to start training for a badge and you are available to umpire afternoon matches, please see Meg who will assess whether you are ready to commence.

 

"Karen Hopper Umpire Award" > for outstanding contribution to umpiring at BNA

in memory of Karen Hopper, former A grade umpire, mother of Meg (our Umpire Development Officer), co-founder of our Umpire Development Program

Criteria:

  • Significant contribution to umpiring at BNA
  • Presents herself / himself as a positive role model to others within the Association
  • Shows respect to players, fellow umpires, coaches and spectators
  • Demonstrates good sportsmanship
  • Demonstrates a willingness and keenness to further develop umpiring skills
  • Contributes to the bgetterment of Umpire development eg) participation in the Umpire Mentor Program
  • Displays consistency, reliability, loyalty and commitment to all facets of umpiring and the Boroondara Netball Association
  • Has current and official accreditation with Netball Victoria
