Following a major review of the Victorian Netball League, Netball Victoria revised the structure of the the competition for 2024 - 2028 with a re-defined purpose: "VNL delivers the training & competition environment to develop athletes, cacohes, technical officials and administrators within the Victorian performance pathway." Click here for Netball Victoria Media Release.

Boroondara EXPRESS was successful in achieving a new licence and 3 new licences have been granted - Western Warriors (north-west), Bendigo Strikers & Gippsland Stars. Ariels were unsuccessful in this licence period.

The new competition

  • has expanded to 12 licences in total (9 metro & 3 regional).
  • will have 2 divisions - Championship & 23&Under - instead of 3 (Champ, Division 1 and 19U)
  • will include up to 2 development teams per club, recognised formally as VNL development teams (VNL reserves)

2018, 2019 - 2023 VNL Bupa Lockup RGB Rev   2021

All VNL clubs had their licenses extended for season 2018 whilst Netball Victoria conducted an extensive review of the VNL program.

Applications for the 2019 - 2023 licenses were opened up to both existing VNL clubs and new clubs, with an ongoing maximum of 10 clubs accepted into the competition - meaning that existing clubs MAY be replaced by a new VNL club. The announcement of the 10 successful clubs was made by Netball Victoria on September 6, 2018.

Boroondara Netball Association (EXPRESS) has been successful in achieving a 5 year VNL licence. Once again, feedback from the VNL Reference Group was extremely positive, cementing our position as a premier netball Association in Victoria.
